About The Photographer
I have a passion for traveling, photography, and learning about cultural traditions. Our planet has so much to offer and I have too little time on Earth to explore it all. Thus, my goal is to never stop exploring and discover as much as I can is my short time. I have lived in six countries and by age 26, I have visited 43 countries. By 50, I hope to have quadrupled that.
I find myself mostly intrigued by non-materialistic cultures in the most rural of places. Such people are genuine regardless of not surrounding themselves in possessions and display acts of kindness that has since been lost and forgotten in the western world. I find being inquisitive and curious is the best way to expand one's knowledge of a culture. Unfortunately, in order to afford travel, one must work. I do this by teaching my native tongue, English, in the ESL industry.
I'm from rural Virginia [Spotsylvania to be exact], I have been educated in Charlotte, North Carolina and Krakow, Poland, and Istanbul, Turkey and now currently live in Beijing, China. Having different countries as a home base has allowed for travel to become more affordable and accessible and this has led me to find myself more at ease abroad.
As for photography, I been self-studying since 2011 with digital SLRs [and film prior to that]. I always had a passion for photography and when combined with traveling, it gives me a unique opportunity to capture life abroad for those who choose to be/are less mobile. I have found that joining the Arcanum has helped me progress immensely with my self-study.
